Croydon Harrier Zoe Fossett clinched a silver medal at the Surrey combined events championships in the U20 women’s heptathlon at Sutton arena.
The 17-year-old finished on 2,183 points with highlights from the seven events including 4.61m in the long jump and a 26.81m effort in the javelin.
Also at Sutton, the U17 men’s 4x100m relay team were runners-up in the seven-club field. The quartet of Derel Stone, Joshua Fearon-Rolfe, Brandon Mitchell and Edwin Miles clocked 44.70 seconds.
At the U13s Super 8 competition, Croydon finished seventh out of the nine competing teams at Tooting Bec.
Jordan O’Dongo was the highest finisher overall for the Harriers, placing 12th in the 46-strong field. His 800m of two minutes, 37 seconds was joint second fastest in the field.
Alex Tischler was also runner-up in the javelin with a 22.62m effort.
In parkrun action, Ben Savill won at Lloyd Park for the fourth time in 18:01 with Alan Burn third in 18:27.
David White triumphed at the inaugural Southwark ParkRun in 16:57.
This Saturday sees Croydon’s men’s team compete in the qualifying fixture for the British Athletics League at Abingdon, as they attempt to reach the top flight of UK athletics for the first time in more than a decade.
