Two of Herne Hill Harriers' rising sprinting stars further enhanced their reputations with stellar performances at the UK School Games in Sheffield.

Sprinter Okunola Fawwaz claimed a silver medal in the U17 men's 100m, clocking 10.92 seconds, five hundredths of a second behind the winner, Caleb Downes.

Zanson Plummer, meanwhile, finished just outside the medals in fourth in the U17 men's 200m in 22.62secs.

There was further track glory for Clarence Allen who finished second in the M45 110m hurdles in Birmingham.

Closer to home, there was junior success for Harriers at the Will Bolton Memorial Relays at Sparrows Den, with the trio of Lily Newton, Eimear Griffin and Kayah Wilks triumphing in the U13 girl's category.

Other highlights of the meeting included the fastest run of any athlete in the U15 girl's race for Saskia Millard, while Eva Holland was the second fastest individual in the U11 girl's group.

Harriers' senior men won silver medals at the Surrey Road Relays at Wimbledon Park, albeit after finishing fourth overall, but second placed of the Surrey-qualified teams.

The club's W35 and W45 teams also won silver medals, while the men's B team, which was not Surrey qualified, placed fifth.

Ceri Diss ran the fastest W45 time of the day and Jo Ritson was third fastest woman and second fastest of the Surrey competitors.

Helen Hadjam also showed a promising return to form, clocking the second fastest time in the W35 category.

On the road, Jonathan Stead was fourth in the Cheltenham half-marathon, clocking 71 minutes, 41 seconds.

Rajdave Singh was 58th at the Bristol half marathon, posting a season's best 76.30, and Rupert Mainwaring was 441st at Bristol in 88.48.

The pick of the Herne Hill athletes in parkrun action, meanwhile, was Mohammad Ismail, who was second at the Dulwich event in 16:45.

At the same time across south London, Richard Wonnacott was winning the Brockwell Park version in 17:46.
