Epsom & Ewell Harriers sit third in Division Two of the 2XU Surrey Men’s Cross-Country League after a fine showing on Wimbledon Common on Saturday.

With four runners in the top 20, the Harriers finished fourth on the day, and remain in contention for promotion to Division One.

Ollie Garrod (fifth, 27:27), Steve Winder (12th, 29:00), Stuart Flack (13th, 29:04) and Will Clark (18th, 29:25) led the team home, ably supported by Simeon Bates, Clayton Payne, Jeffrey Butler and Alex Hawkins.

In Division Three, Tadworth AC finished the day’s action at Roundshaw Downs in fifth spot – leaving them struggling to make an impact in seventh overall.

Paul O’Callaghan (third, 27:31), Dave Williamson (14th, 29:07) and Peter Mills (22nd, 33:25) were the club’s top performers on the day.

Epsom Oddballs were in action in Division Four at the same venue.

A consistent showing throughout the field saw the Oddballs take second place on the day, keeping them third overall – they are only 8.5 points behind second placed British Airways, but a mammoth 372.5 points behind the leaders from Elmbridge Road Runners.

Peter Drummond was the first home for the Oddballs in 12th, clocking 32:42, with the remaining nine runners all in the top 36.

Round three of four is set to take place on December 1.
