Morden boxer Lenny Daws has declared himself ready to face anyone for another shot at the British light-welterweight title after a comfortable ring comeback on Friday.

Daws, 29, had a unanimous point victory over Worcester journeyman Billy Smith on the undercard of the Sky-televised British light-heavyweight title clash between Steve Spartacus and Tony Oakey at the ExCel Centre .

It was the first time Daws had fought since losing his belt to Scot Barry Morrison in January, and the Sutton-based former Rosehill ABC fighter wants it back.

Morrison defends his title against Colin Lynes on June 8 and Daws, who has already beaten Lynes in his 16-fight professional career, is not worried about facing either.

"It is hard one to call because they both can bang a bit," he said after his 60-54 points triumph over six rounds.

"I am not fussed who I get in with, but of the two maybe I would prefer Morrison because he beat me before and I would love revenge.

"I have proved I'm in good shape. I will take on anyone as long as I get a shot at that title again."

Daws was a victim of his tendency to start slowly against Morrison, but was out of the blocks quickly against Smith to claim all six rounds.

"I'm a 12-round fighter, really, and tend to be a slow starter but hopefully this has got me out of that habit," said Daws, who only found out the identity of his opponent 24 hours before the fight.

"I was supposed to be topping the bill so I was a bit down that I wasn't, but Billy is a survivor and it was a case of fighting him or no one. It was a training session and a chance to blow out the cobwebs."
