Surrey professional Gary Marks has declared himself fit for this week's BMW PGA Championship, his biggest tournament of the year.

Marks, last year's South Region Order of Merit winner, has been troubled by an elbow injury since February and his participation in the European Tour's £3million flagship event at Wentworth was in doubt.

However, having practised since Saturday he feels confident he can compete.

"It is a bit sore but I've played a few rounds and been able to have a full swing and I am okay for the tournament," said Marks, of the World of Golf centre in New Malden.

"This has been my first week's golf but it's difficult to simulate 7,300 yards with crowds of people watching."

"It is now a question of what I can do on the day."

Marks tees off tomorrow afternoon with Hertfordshire's David Griffiths and Spain's Carlos Rodiles.

He has played in the Wentworth event twice previously, finishing tied for 69th in 2002 but missing the cut last year
