Youngsters from Coombe Girls School are set to live out a football fan's dream this week by playing in a major tournament final at Old Trafford, writes Lisa Gains.

The Premier League Schools Tournament has seen more than 5,000 young people from around 600 schools take part in matches at every top flight Club. Coombe Girls School first won the right to wear the Fulham shirt in a tournament held at the Club, and having come through a regional final as well, they have now qualified for the big day at Old Trafford tomorrow (Friday).

The tournament comprises of two separate six-a-side competitions - an Under 11 mixed and an Under 13 girls. Eight teams in each are now through to the Old Trafford final.

Coombe Girls School will have a day to remember as they go through a full Premier League match day experience. They will get to use the first team dressing rooms, run out on to the famous pitch through the tunnel and have their games handled by top Premier League referees Alan Wiley, Peter Walton, Phil Dowd and Mike Dean.

The young players will also meet Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, who will make the draw at the start of the day, as well a number of Manchester United's players who will present the prizes.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore, who will also be at the final, said: "Running out at Old Trafford in their Premier League team strip will be something I am sure these young people will never forget. The Schools Tournament offers them a fantastic opportunity to experience what it would be like to be a top player on a match day.

"All of our clubs do a huge amount of unsung work in their communities and this is just part of it. I am thrilled that we have been able to involve over five thousand boys and girls right across the country in the Premier League Schools Tournament."

The winners of the Premier League Schools Tournament will get to walk away with a prestigious trophy - with all players also getting medals and Nike football kit.
