Richmond went top of National League Division Two after battling back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 and end London Lynx’s 100 per cent record at Kingston College on Saturday.

Richmond won the first set 25-17, but scrappy play saw Lynx take the next two sets 25-23 and 25-21.

Richmond exploded back into life to take the fourth 25-21, but were 4-1 and 11-8 down at various stages of the decider before squeezing home 16-14 thanks to man-of-the-match Michael Gelfi’s powerful serve aces.

Coach David Rijvers said: “I was delighted with the team’s attacking play in the first, fourth and fifth sets, but remain critical of certain aspects of the overall performance.

“We just looked lacklustre in the second and third sets.”

Richmond’s next home match at Kingston Arena is against Brentwood on Saturday, November 28 (5pm).
