Striders of Croydon finished as fourth men’s team and fifth women’s team in Sunday’s Sutton 10km road race - the first event of this season’s. Justin Macenhill was eigth out of 302 finishers in the men’s race (34 minutes 56 seconds), with Helen Furze fifth woman and 74th overall (40:51).

Other Striders men: 11 Steve Starvis 35.04, 31 Lee Wadsworth 37.31, 44 Barry White 38.34, 49 Rob Sharpe 38.51, 50 Duncan Macenhill 38.59.

Other Striders women: 5 Helen Furze 40.51, 113 Serena Stracey 43.48, 188 Carmen Somerset 50.57, 213 Amanda Barros 52.20, 231 Karen Macenhill 54.08 Meanwhile, Richard Lee-Smith (18.35) was second in Saturday morning’s Roundshaw Downs 5km parkrun, with Simon Ambrose second in the Greenwick event (18.32).

Striders’ first track and field match of the season is in the Rosenheim League at Battersea Park next Wednesday.
