Hounslow & District Wheelers’ Paul Holdsworth finished third in the tough Planet X Wychwood Classic Time Trial on Sunday, writes Chris Lovibond.
Holdsworth, who took the veterans’ first prize, clocked one hour, 30 minutes, 59 seconds, but the first two riders both smashed the existing course record of 1.30:54, Hywel Davies of Planet X winning in 1.28:14 with Sigma Sport’s Steve Golla second in 1.28:58.
The 36-mile event is run over a two-lap course in the Cotswold Hills and features more than 2,000ft of climbing.
Meawnhile, Hounslow’s Rob Gilmour finished third on veterans’ statandard and 14th overall in Saturday’s Charlotteville 10. The event was won by Nick Baldo (PB Science.com) in 20.24, with Wouter Sybrandy (Sigma Sport) second (20.29).
