Teddington’s under 10 girls finished their season off with the best possible result after taking the Southern Title on Sunday.
All nine teams had already qualified after winning or being runners up in the county championships so the competition level was very high playing against some of the best and most established junior hockey clubs in England.
The girls aged 9 and 10 years old played eight games, winning 6 and drawing just 2.
Their success was due to a near perfect clean sheet thanks to fantastic goal keeping by Issabella Harrison, and a fantastic strike rate of fourteen goals with 9 being scored by the highest scorer of the day Teddington’s Lucy Barton.
Coach Neil D’Mello said: “What a fantastic win, and a great TEAM performance, I can’t tell you how proud I was of the girls efforts. All those wins when I played for the first team, including National Championships and European Cups, this was up there with those!“ He added “They were without doubt worthy champions.”
