Twickenham held on to their position at the top of Middlesex County League Division Two on Saturday – but only just.

Skipper Carlos Nunes’ men host third-placed Shepherd’s Bush tomorrow, having been forced to bat out for a losing draw on the Green by second-placed Richmond last week.

Visiting skipper Kevin Barrett (56) and Dain Moreton (55) provided the foundations for Richmond to post an imposing 242-5 in an innings affected by rain.

Jean-Pierre Cronje (65) and Tom Huysinga (60) got Twickenham’s reply off to the perfect start with an unbeaten 109-run partnership Nunes’ outfit reached 130-1 before that swiftly became 159-7 in the face of 5-27 from Shiva Prasad, leaving Matt Bendelow and Parminder Singh to bat out for the draw.

In the Premier Division, form-team Teddington were knocked off the summit after a shock defeat to bottom-club Brondesbury saw them slip to second.

Joe Auston top scored with 37 as skipper James Wade’s men were dismissed for a paultry 132.

Duncan Wood’s 3-32 helped reduce the hosts to 78-7 before Brondesbury edged home to thier first win of the season.

Teddington will look to bounce straight back at mid-table Finchley this week as they try to get their bid back on track.

*titleTwickenham batsman Tom Guy broke the habit of a lifetime after winning a newspaper competition earlier this month.

Guy hit a six off the last ball – meaning it counted double – off his Last Man Stands “super over” at the Kia Oval.

He and partner Sam Saheh hit 15 off their five balls to stand a chance of winning a VIP trip to Friends Life T20 finals day.

“I enjoyed everything. I’ve never hit a six before but now I’ve hit a 12, so I’ve just had a great day,” he said.

*Twickenham second team batsman Stuart Amos was the star of the show at Barnes on Saturday, smashing an unbeaten century to see the Ts return to winning ways.

Amos was well supported by the enigmatic Warwick Paull (50), as the batters made light work of knocking off 198.

Before then, debutant Jeremy Keates (4-45) made impressive inroads into the Barnes batting line up, before Dan Hough chipped in with 4-24 to wrap things up.
