Rosslyn Park scrum-half Matt Heeks is more eager than most for the National League One to resume after a two-week break as it marks his chance to return to first-team action.

Heeks was knocked unconscious in the win over Fylde at the beginning of November after clashing heads with team-mate and centre Dom Shabbo. He only made his return to the field in a second string match last week.

Park host Old Albanians this weekend, looking to return to winning ways after the 33-24 defeat at Wharfedale last weekend and, despite the fact Park face fellow title challengers Blaydon and Ealing Trailfinders in the following weeks, Heeks said their collective eye is solely on this weekend.

He said: “We have to make sure that we concentrate on Old Albanians, it is very dangerous to think beyond that.

“All I am hoping is that I am picked for the game – I get itchy feet when I am not playing and being told by doctors to lay low for four weeks was hard to bear.

“I don’t remember being knocked out. When I came round I was flat on my back and surrounded by physios.

“I was apparently out for about a minute.

“I had concussion, I lost feeling in my left leg and I was in a bad way. I had a week off work where I basically slept. But now I am back and raring to go again.

“These kind of injuries happen in rugby, it is just another one to add to my list.”
