Warlingham ran out winners of the floodlit Surrey Sevens at KCS Old Boys, writes Peter Upton.

They ran out 19-14 winners over KCS Old Boys in the final to the delight of coach Richard Horton.

Success seemed a long way off when two breakway tries in their first round game with Old Wellingtonians left them 12-0 behind.

But the second half proved a different story, Ben Wimble grabbing two quick tries with Leo Savidge also scoring in a 17-12 victory.

The second game was against an Old Alleynians side who had only finished their first round game five minutes earlier.

That showed as Warlingham scored four unanswered tries in the first few minutes, with Lee McCloghlin proving his raw pace, and James Agate and Osborne dancing through the middle.

In the semi-final, London South Africa tore straight through Warlingham, showing great pace and ability to score the first three tries from the match.

Inspirational skipper Tom Street urged his men to “man up and smash them” and from the kick off, John Wright knocked one of them sideways for Leo to score.

A quick restart saw Glover dance his way through the middle and ofload for John Wright to score.

Next, a moment of magic from the fleet-flooted Street produced Warlingham’s third try.

Late on, Mark Kozminski came in with a huge hit and turn to clinch victory.

Injuries to Agate, Osborne and Street left Warlingham up against it in the final, with Warlingham coming up against some Esher players.

But Warlingham battled back from two early scores, with Lee McLaughlin scoring two dazzling tries.
