Mitcham RFC’s first appearance in the Surrey Bowl final ended in a 5-0 defeat by Old Glynonians in atrocious conditions at Imber Court on Sunday.
Cheered on by a vociferous crowd, Mitcham made a bright start and two long-range penalty attempts from skipper Liam Dewsbury went narrowly wide.
A smart backs move nearly freed winger Van Rensburg, but he was held up by the Glyn defence.
A stray pass proved their downfall as Glyn scored the only try before half-time.
Mitcham were on the back foot and Ewell-based Glyn lifted the cup.
