Danny Wilson insists the pressure is all on Bristol when London Welsh travel to the Memorial Ground on Friday night for their Championship play-off semi-final.

Welsh clawed their way into the last four with an impressive 31-14 win at Doncaster on Saturday, a result that secured second spot in promotion Pool B.

But, despite having been beaten home and away in league games by the West Country side this season, Wilson reckons his side can still keep their Premiership dreams alive.

He said: “There is no doubt in my mind that they will be feeling the heat and we will just go there and play.

“They have to win whereas in many ways we have over-achieved this season.

“I know what this group of players is capable of and we can certainly go there and win.

“This is the biggest game this club has had for many years and we have to give it a real go.”

Tries from Paul Sampson (two), Errie Claassens and Chris Whitehead secured the Doncaster triumph.

And Wilson was delighted after seeing his side rattle off their third straight win.

He added: “It was a great performance and pretty much done and dusted by half time.

“We have had three very physical games back-to-back and the players have come through each time and that is a huge credit to them.

“We had to do it the hard way, but nothing this group of players does surprises me.”

Wilson will now ask for another massive effort when they meet Bristol, in a game that is being shown live on Sky Sports.

And the Dragons coach wants his side to grab their chance at history, with a two-legged play-off final awaiting the winners.

Wilson added: “When you consider that we have had administration and real financial problems to contend with this season, what the players have achieved is incredible.

“We have picked up some huge wins in incredibly trying circumstances.

“But that is in the past now and we have to make sure we go to Bristol, play our style of rugby and front up.”
