Yesterday was the final day of Chobham Rugby Club's Easter rugby camp, which saw 50 youngsters coached all week in the skills of rugby by Liam Cranford and his team.

Liam is Chobham’s YDO coaching in many of the local schools in the Woking and Surrey Heath area.

Mark Odejobi was at the camp to present their RFU Competence Awards and help coach the children. Mark is part of England’s successful 7s team and is a Wasps flanker.

As an identified referee associated with Chobham I am proud to announce that today we have received the Runners Up in the prestigious RFU President's XV Awards 2011, for the Better Referees category.

Meanwhile, on Monday 18th April, Wayne Barnes, International Rugby Referee, will be at Chobham RFC to present the club with the runners-up award for developing Better Referees.

He will also be presenting to the clubs own referees advice on the art of refereeing.

Chobham have received the award as they believe referees are imperative for all to enjoy the game and as such support referees of all standards and ages to allow their players to enjoy the game of rugby.

Chobham’s referees are from Under 6 Tag to Level 6 (the same as our Senior First XV), from 16 to 56.

Carly Jackson, of the RFU, has said as a Runner Up in the President’s XV, the RFU plan to use Chobham as a case study in a ‘Models of Good Practice’ booklet to be published and distributed to the game.”

Statement from Harry Norman-Walker (Chairman of Senior Rugby) - "As a referee for over 15 years I was very proud to be contacted by the Carly Jackson at the RFU to be told we were a runners up in the RFU Presidents Better Referees award, our commitment to developing referees at all levels is very important and our mentoring has produced over 60 referees at different levels."
