London Welsh head coach Lyn Jones has told his men to be more ruthless by the time the business end of the season arrives.
Jones watched his side lose 22-18 at Bedford Blues to register a first defeat of the campaign on Saturday.
But the Old Deer Park chief was left frustrated by his side’s lack of finishing.
“You have to take your chances when opportunity knocks and fair play to Bedford, whenever they came into our half in the first half they came away with points,” he said.
“We didn’t turn pressure into points and that’s the difference.”
The Exiles scored through Ed Jackson and Edd Thrower but it was only enough for a losing bonus point.
“We need to learn how to be more composed under pressure. I thought our open skills were excellent, but some of our close skills were found wanting,” he added.
Welsh answered Jones’s call with a clinical 44-9 British & Irish Cup win over London Scottish on Wednesday evening.
The host Nottingham on Saturday.
