Richmond director of rugby Steve Hill has warned the rest of National Divsion Two South his table-toppers have room for improvement.
Hill’s men beat Hertford 25-9 in an evening kick-off at the Athletic Ground on Saturday, thanks to tries from Tom Chesters, Jason Phipps, Pete Clark and man of the match Harry Edwards.
Richmond hit the ground running but lost intensity in the second half and Hill, who made 10 changes to his starting line-up for the clash, insisted it could and shoud have been more.
“Ten personnel changes was always likely to have an effect on us,” said Hill.
“After a really good start we lost our way a little. The ball was very slippery and we needed to adjust more quickly to the conditions.
“I was really pleased with the number of chances we created but not with our finishing.
“However, being unbeaten and top of the league with significant improvements possible is a good place to be.”
Richmond look to extend their winning start to the season to five games when they travel to Taunton on Saturday.
