London Broncos head coach Rob Powell singled out Huddersfield Giants star Danny Brough as the difference between his side and a first win of the Super League season on Sunday, writes James Dickenson.

Powell’s men crashed 30-16 at the Stoop – despite dominating long periods of the game – leaving the Broncos one place off the bottom of the table after four successive defeats.

But coach Rob Powell insisted his men were a slice of fortune away from ending their frustrating start to the campaign.

“I felt we were unlucky against Huddersfield. Like the St Helens game, I thought we were the stronger team,” he said.

“We matched Huddersfield and were better than them in a lot of departments, but in the end were undone by the brilliance of Danny Brough.”

The Broncos scored three times – through Antonio Kaufusi (2) and Jamie O’Callaghan – but had three correctly ruled out and Powell described tonight’s trip to Salford City Reds as a chance to address the balance.

“It is a good opportunity to win if we play like we did at the weekend,” said the Yorkshireman.

“We talked about getting to the play-offs before this season started, but we have to start winning games first. The ball is in our court.

“Standards are improving down here, but we need to start winning to get more people through the gates.”
