On Friday 8th April, a team of volunteers from Barclays Corporate will lend a hand in the community and provide some much appreciated assistance at the Thornton Heath Children’s Centre in Pridham Road CR7.
Barclays staff, led by Simon Davey, will be picking up tools and paint brushes to supply some TLC and brighten up a garden area and rooms used by both the children and parents who attend this fantastic facility. Their work will make a real difference to the facilities used by hundred’s of local families, who take advantage of the support offered by the Children’s Centre.
Thornton Heath Children’s Centre is situated in the heart of the community. With Linda Bellhouse and her team, providing many activities and services for families based in the area. The centre hosts a 104 place nursery, childcare, organizes toddler time as well helping parents via a varied activity programme. One parent said “We love coming to the centre. She gets to play and learn and I get to socialize and learn from others”.
The help provided at Thornton Heath is one of many community activities that take place in the run up to Crystal Palace Football Club’s Annual Charity Ball. The Barclays team along with their clients is once again supporting the event, by helping to raise awareness and donations on behalf of Croydon Commitment, the locally based Corporate Social Responsibility charity.
Ian Robinson, Croydon Commitment’s business broker said “Barclays Corporate is truly a superb patron of our Charity. As a long term member of Croydon Commitment, their support enables us to assist a large number of charities and projects throughout the borough.” Ian continued “With the help of Barclays and our entire membership, we have provided countless volunteer hours and undertaken work of behalf many organisations in need. This has made a real difference to the lives of many in the borough.
Simon Davey, Corporate Director for Barclays Croydon, said “we fully recognize our responsibilities to all of our stakeholders and we continue to find this community work extremely rewarding”.
