I was surprised to read in last week's letters section of Alan Corline's suggestion that he had not heard from his Waddon councillors as we had exchanged two items of correspondence including a letter over 750 words long from me to Mr Corline.
Councilllor Robert Canning also wrote to Mr Corline.
As a landlord, Mr Corline is concerned about the new landlord licensing scheme being introduced by the Labour council.
I am pleased that I invested time in writing in detail to Mr Corline as his further response was full of really good ideas on how to run the licensing scheme.
As the council moves to consult fully on the scheme I hope that we get other such good quality input like that which I received from Mr Corline and then passed on to be included in the consultation responses.
On the election doorstep we found this landlord licensing policy the most popular of all offered by Labour locally as residents wanted some of the abuses in the private rented sector dealt with.
Residents who were not renters often complained about rented multi-occupancy home landlords not providing space for refuse storage with the adverse impact of rubbish just being left out on the street.
Labour is ambitious for Croydon's success and is implementing a very full programme to improve our borough of which the landlord licensing scheme is just a part.
Anyway, a bit like my letter to Mr Corline, I am going on too much
Councillor Andrew Pelling
Waddon ward
