Today I was verbally abused by a passenger on a bus for squeezing my buggy into a space where there was none because a wheelchair was there.
Had I known this I would have waited for another bus (as has happened before), but the driver did not tell me.
Except for two people at the front, the bus was empty, but at the next stop these two passengers got on and wanted to sit at the back. I got up and moved the buggy so they could get by, and this resulted in a telling-off.
I tried to explain that I could not fold up the buggy and was told, “Well, you shouldn’t have brought it then”.
Most buggies now are very bulky and hard to fold up, especially when you have a back problem – which I do.
I do have a more lightweight fold-able buggy, but it is very hard to manoeuvre.
Had one of those passengers offered to help me fold it up I would have.
Fellow passengers have a heart and be more tolerant of people with buggies. It is stressful enough getting around with a buggy without hateful looks and words from others.
