I write in response to the letter from Bill Jones regarding the request for more housing in Croydon (Your Say, October 22).
Mr Jones fails to mention his appeal has a commercial interest in that the so-called website yestohomes.co.uk is a sponsored site, it is sponsored by the National Housebuilders Federation (NHF).
Mr Jones is not looking out for his fellow residents of Croydon, but driving a campaign to make more money for his friends at the NHF.
At a time when speculative builders are trying to encroach upon our precious greenbelt we do not need backdoor attempts to despoil it.
An article recently stated the CR0 postcode is the largest in the UK. We do not need to increase those figures because our services are already stretched to the limit.
Doctors cannot be seen for two weeks, schools cannot cope with the increased numbers of children needing places, the roads are already clogged up with traffic and public transport is overcrowded.
We all want everyone to be able to own their own home at a realistic price, but just building more for speculators is not the answer.
