This year sees 100 years since the start of the First World War, and on Remembrance Sunday all councillors came together to celebrate the sacrifices that were made for our freedoms.
It is also 100 years since St Andrew’s Church in Coulsdon was formally founded, and we both had the pleasure of attending its celebration last weekend.
The congregation was rightly in high spirits, and the choir superb.
Jo Richards, Susan Goddard and everyone else who worked so hard to make it happen deserve a huge pat on the back.
At a time when people claim pride in civic life is decreasing, it is refreshing to see such a
vibrant community group taking pride in their heritage.
Here’s to another 100 years.
