Addiscombe has lost a pillar of its community after Bernadette Moynihan sadly passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Since 1964 Bernadette had been part of the leadership team of the 28th Croydon Scout group.
As a kid I was a part of her pack and remember spending fun evenings earning badges in the hut in Craven Road, all under her protective and reassuring eye.
Over many years Bernadette served in key roles volunteering at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Bingham Road and working as a special needs assistant at St Thomas Becket Primary School.
Bernadette had a huge impact on the lives of thousands of young men and women across Croydon.
She dedicated herself to us locally for more than 50 years, supporting generations of local families, caring for each child as if they were her own.
Her commitment to our community, her family, will never be forgotten and serves as an example to us all.
Rest in peace Akela.
