For years people have raided the donated clothing containers outside the Tesco store in Thornton Heath.

They would turn it into a huge family outing, spreading rugs on the little stretch of green on the island and taking it in turns to go through the sacks that they had pulled out of the containers, discarding items that they did not want on to the ground.

These people have a built-in indifference and oblivion to the concerns and objections raised by onlookers at their audacious behaviour.

Now this much-used recycling facility, which also included bottles and papers etc, has been removed because of these actions and the constant clearing up after these gangs.

It will not be relocated either, so our nearest recycling amenity is Selhurst car park.

If these thieves cause as much disruption as they have done in Thornton Heath perhaps the authorities will say enough is enough and it will suffer the same fate.

Sacks of clothes can be taken straight to Cash for Clothes so it is easy money and difficult to apprehend these people.

Also people who just want these sacks of whatever out of their homes and leave them willy-nilly at the car park are also abusing this facility and should act more responsibly.
