I doubt that any parent whose child has just been killed or badly injured by a car travelling at 30 to 45mph would be too impressed by Mike Farnell’s claim (Your say, April 15) that the vehicle was at least being driven in the most fuelefficient manner.

No, many people do simply drive far too fast, especially when they feel under pressure through not having left themselves sufficient time and are rat-running through the side-streets to catch up.

We see it around here, all the time.

The real problem is, however, as Mr Farnell suggests, one of the enforcement of any new 20mph limit when the existing one of 30 mph is effectively ignored and practically unenforceable.

I do agree wholeheartedly and completely with Mr Farnell last point.

I have a PC, myself, but Croydon Council seems to forget that not everyone has a PC and that just putting something on a website is scarcely a proper consultation, in any case.
