Yet again Croydon Council is fleecing the hard working taxpayers.
It does not cost £750 or even £350 to set up a simple database to collect payments.
As a landlord I fulfil my statutory obligations towards my tenants and have not put up their rent in two years nor do I intend doing so as I value them as good tenants who pay on time and look after the property.
However, like a lot of hardworking landlords, I will have to pass this penalty on to my tenants. While as responsible landlords we are constrained to pay this unfair penalty, is the council willing to reimburse me for the £11,000 damage their tenant caused to my property while renting it for 18 months?
That does not take into account eight months of very stressful County Court litigation and seeing my property trashed? Oh no, of course not, they turn the other cheek when it hits their pockets.
