I was glad to see that sanity prevailed with the collapse of the trial of a protester who burned an effigy of Boris Johnson (Woman who lit effigy of Boris has case dropped, May 20).
“Boris”, as his friends insist we must call him, may have a messiah complex, but that does not mean he should be elevated to the status of a religious icon.
I found it deeply disturbing that the police and the Crown Prosecution Service were using their substantial weight to stifle a voice of legitimate dissent.
You would think with all the crime in London they would have something better to do.
I shall burn effigies of whoever I like, thank you very much.
