Parking awareness

10:53am Wednesday 15th January 2003

Recently Croydon council introduced their new parking regulations, meaning people parking in my street are required to pay from 7am to midnight, seven days a week.

I can understand the reasoning behind it, but am very annoyed at the way it has been implemented. It is obvious that people don't know about the new regulations, especially in the evenings. On a weekend evening I can walk up my road and see a dozen tickets.

The worst thing is that people can only buy tickets for two hours. If they get into Croydon at 9pm they would have to leave before closing time.

All this will do is drive people away.

It is blatantly obvious that Croydon Council need to do something to make people more aware of these new regulations.

If I had been parking in Scarbrook Road for years, why would I suddenly think to look at the pay and display machine to see if I now need to pay to park?
