As I gave my support to Andrew Pelling at the last general election and have always voted Conservative – being a long-time Tory supporter – I was sad at how badly Croydon Conservatives had treated him; removing him from the party whip and banning him from being a Conservative candidate at the next general election.
Mr Pelling had been cleared of assault on his wife by the courts. There was no reason why he should have been forced to stand down.
Andrew Pelling is an excellent MP, who has worked very hard for his constituency and has years of political experience.
I will give my support to the Conservatives at the next European and general election, but the new Conservative candidate Gavin Barwell – still young and not long out of school uniform – could learn a lot from Andrew Pelling’s political experience.
It seems the Conservative Party today only want bright young things.
Could Andrew Pelling be a victim of age discrimination under the David Cameron leadership?
