Do councillors earn too much?

I'm sure I am not the only Croydon resident who is absolutely amazed at the wages paid to our councillors Give us our cash back' (Croydon Guardian, February 1).

True, it might be dressed-up as an allowance to cover fares, subsistence and out-of-pocket expenses but many people will struggle to see why they are paid more than £900 a month.

It's little wonder that we'll have a whole load to choose from in May.
