I am delighted you gave such prominent and positive coverage to the "Which Loo?" document produced by the Aurora group with the support of the Metropolitan Police (Met backs loo plans, Croydon Guardian, March 8).
However, I am concerned that your splendid coverage in conjunction with the crime story which appeared on page two could unintentionally give the impression that the police are giving disproportionate attention to social issues at the expense of crime fighting.
The truth is that the "Which Loo?" discussions took up very little police time, but will have the benefit of reducing the amount of time that the police will have to spend responding to incidents in public toilets.
As the moderator of the TransPolUK e-group, which had some input into the document, I am able to assure you that the vast bulk of the work was undertaken by the trans community, which then presented its suggestions to the police for comment.
