A group of Year 6 children went on an off-road adventure across Epsom Downs to Ashtead. The route obviously involved a lot of hills along with an intricate part through the trees on single tracks. We had to use all our ‘MTB’ skills to negotiate the tricky terrain such as low branches, tree stumps, roots, gulleys and mud!

West Ewell Infant School and Nursery has undergone a significant redevelopment in order to become a four-form infant school. We have had a new hall, kitchen and School Reception office built and to celebrate the artistic talent of our children, we commissioned a beautiful mural by talented artist Becci Kenning, to capture our class name trees throughout the seasons. Each tree is pictured in a particular season, some in blossom, some about to lose their leaves, others in full summer bloom.

Former Greenacre School pupil, Elizabeth Donkin of Banstead, has just heard that she is the recipient of this year's 2014 prize for the Best Materials Project awarded by the University of Southampton's Engineering materials group on behalf of the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Braisiers for her project "The Effects of Chemical Composition and Annealing Temperature on the Shape Memory Thin Films." The prize is worth £250 and there is a medal which will be handed over publicly to Elizabeth at the Annual Postgraduate Conference on 22nd October in Southampton.

The show, organised by the Rotary Club of Croydon Whitgift, took place at the Rotary Fields just off the A23 Motorcycles and commercial vehicles were included in the show, and there was a strong contingent of Minis brought along by the London and Surrey Mini Owners' Club and the Box Hill Mini Club.

15 year old Rhianne Gallagher has been fundraising for Rainbow Child Foundation as part of her duties as a competitor in Face of The Globe Surrey. This pageant is to be held at Addington Court Golf Club on Sunday 25th May, where girls from all over Surrey will compete to win a place in the Grand Final of Face of The Globe UK , in Disneyland Paris in October. Rhianne, from Tadworth , raised funds by holding a Girl's Night, including cupcake decorating, music, dancing and a raffle. The proceedings finished off with "bubbly" in the hot tub where the girls had great fun! I passed the balancing pond at 10pm last night where firefighters were still working hard in atrocious conditions to keep the waters at the balancing pond and a safe level. From our home you could see them continuing to work through the night - hoping their efforts will be truly appreciated once this is all over.
