On GCSE Results Day (Thursday August 24th), Al-Khair School pupils were once again celebrating excellent GCSE results.

This year the pass rate (A*-C grades) in 5 of more GCSE subjects including English and Maths is a fantastic 100%, well above the national average of 59%. Nearly 50% of our Year 11 cohort went on to gain admission in 6th form Grammar schools and all of them went on to study A levels in their chosen fields.

The Headmistress, Mrs. Aisha Chaudhry, commenting on the results, stated “I am delighted that the hard work of our Year 11 pupils and their teachers has been rewarded with such an outstanding set of GCSE results.

At Al-Khair School we continually strive to stretch all of our pupils. We promote a Key Stage 4 curriculum which includes the separate sciences of Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as all of the other English baccalaureate GCSE subjects which are known to be the most academically challenging.

We are confident that our pupils will leave our school with a competitive advantage. Equally important for us, however, is the belief that pupils who leave our school understand that academic excellence is only meaningful if used to benefit society and indeed humanity”.

Al Khair School was also quoted in Croydon’s Guardian newspaper below: “The highest-performing schools in last year's exams were Al-Khair School ... and Trinity School in Shirley, both of which saw 100 per cent of pupils achieve five A*-C grades.”

We are happy to share in the success of Croydon overall performance in the league tables which increased from 61% to 62% of all pupils achieving five or more 'good' GCSEs - A* to C grades including English and Maths and we hope to be part of Croydon’s success in the future.
