Addiscombe Young Writers is set to re-launch in September and invites new members aged between six and 11. After running for a year and a half, and following some disruption due to unforeseen circumstances, AYW founder Jilly Henderson-Long is now looking ahead with renewed enthusiasm as the group heads towards its second year. If your child has an interest in Creative Writing, Jilly welcomes enquiries through the group Blog (http://addiscombeyoungwriters.blogspot.co.uk) and by email (jillyhendersonlong@gmail.com). Sessions will take place twice a month (dates tbc) between 9.30 and 10.30 on Saturday mornings, at The Positively Marvellous Cake and Coffee Shop in Lower Addiscombe Road.

Says Jilly “I am planning all kinds of new activities and events including at least one guest speaker and further trips out following the success of a theatre trip earlier this year when the children got to meet the actors and go back stage, plus a Halloween Fancy Dress session and a Christmas Tea Party. Writing isn’t just about sitting with pen and paper. It is about experiencing the wonders of life and learning how to share that through the written word.”

Children will also have the opportunity to join a Certificate Trail and enter writing competitions. They may even get the chance to see their work in print following the success of the group’s first book Word Magic which was published earlier this year. “It’s going to get better and better,” says Jilly. “There are just so many talented children out there!”
