After almost 40 years of meeting together with the 1st Croham Hurst Ranger Guides, Croham Valley Explorer Scouts have decided to move to a new venue in South Croydon in order to attract more members aged 14-18, particularly girls now that The Scout Association is co-educational. The Unit will continue meeting weekly on Tuesday evenings from 8.00 pm until 9.30 pm, but with effect from September 17th at the 7th/12th Scout Headquarters, located to the rear of 35-41 Birdhurst Rise, South Croydon. The Unit will continue offering an attractive and adventurous programme including outdoor activities, camps and expeditions, as well as enabling members to work towards their Duke of Edinburgh's and Scouting Awards. The Ranger Guides will continue to meet at St Paul's Church Hall, Croham Park Avenue, South Croydon on Tuesday evenings also from 8.00 pm until 9.30 pm, which will facilitate joint meetings with the Explorers from time to time. Both Units have challenged themselves to increase membership substantially by March 2014. Young people interested in joining the Explorer Scouts should contact Christopher Dean on 01883 723081.
