Beat the credit crunch blues at Purley fun day

By Owen Tonks

The local community of Purley is attempting to lift each other’s spirits and beat the Credit Crunch blues by organising an “All Age Fun Day.”

Like many people, the organisers of this event are fed up of hearing about the financial doom and gloom that is causing problems for many people across the country and are inviting people to “beat the Credit Crunch and enjoy this free event.”

There will be no charge for entry or any of the events, which will include a barbeque but numbers will be limited and entry to the event will need to be booked in advance.

Graham North, a local resident, said: “I think it’s a great idea. Things like this happen less and less these days and it’s nice that people are still caring and friendly enough to take part.”

The event will begin at 11.00am and end mid afternoon. A variety of activities will be on offer such as toys, games, videos, 60's music, competitions and a craft session. As well as the barbeque there will be ice cream, toffee apples, candy floss, popcorn and stalls of plants and good quality second hand toys and gifts.

To obtain a ticket for the event which will be on May 16th at Purley Baptist Church, please telephone 020 8668 0422 or email office@purleybaptist.org.
