Three Addiscombe Guides are travelling to South Africa this summer to work at a project in Kwa Zulu Natal.
An amazing fundraising event was organised by the girls that are travelling to God’s Golden Acre (GGA) in South Africa to work on the project helping vulnerable and orphaned children in an area devastated by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. They have been through a tough selection process to gain their places on this trip.
The girls organised the Fun morning at their Church and raised an amazing £909 towards their target of £2200 each needed to go on the trip, including a cake sale after Church the next morning as well.
Crafts, raffles, games and activities were enjoyed by ages ranging from the youngest Rainbow to the more mature Trefoil members of Girlguiding and friends from the Church and local community. The Trefoil ladies had a Burger and Hot Dog Café while the girls themselves got friends to help at the “Car Wash”. The Croydon Build-a-Bear store came along with their workshop which was great.
Nestle generously donated coffee and biscuits, Amanda Dunstan from Positively Marvellous Temptations Ltd donated a Rainbow Cake and a voucher and Sucden Financial Ltd also made a superb donation.
