Kat Simmons, from Streatham, will be taking on the Breast Cancer Care WomenOnly Run in Richmond Park on Saturday 18 October. She is running to show her support to her mother, who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in July.

Kat, a Primary Education Student, explains: “I’m very excited and secretly a little bit terrified about taking on the 10k challenge! I’ve never done anything like this before but training has been going well so far. I decided to run for Breast Cancer Care when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s been a difficult time for the whole family but mum is now recovering well from surgery. Raising awareness around Breast Cancer Care provides essential support and advice for people like my mum living with breast cancer.”

Whether you are an experienced athlete or a first-time jogger, the Breast Cancer Care WomenOnly Run offers a great opportunity to run on closed roads through one of London’s most beautiful autumnal scenes and with 15km, 10km, 5km as well as ‘Run with your Buggy’ options, there’s no excuse not to get involved! What’s more, the course lends itself perfectly for friends and family to support and cheer you on.

Tom Whitehead, Sporting & Challenge Events Manager at Breast Cancer Care said: “The Breast Cancer Care WomenOnly Run is a really special event set in beautiful surroundings. We’re so grateful to everyone who has chosen to run for Breast Cancer Care. The money they raise will make a huge difference to the 55,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer every year. We wish Kat the best of luck for this run, and look forward to cheering -her over the line.”

Taking part in support of Breast Cancer Care helps the charity provide free expert information and professional support, including its free phone helpline and face to face services, when it’s needed most.
