Walking out onto a red carpet filled with stars from across the globe seems almost unreal for a “Tooting girl.” However, I got the chance to experience the unfamiliar scene when I attended the “Love, Rosie” premiere up in Central London on October 6th 2014.

As an “average” 16-year-old, it’s hard to imagine what the life of a film star involves, let alone live out. So, as I slowly wandered down the red carpet of Leicester Square for the first time, I was in awe that this was somebody else’s “reality.”

The carpet was joined by the likes of Lily Collins, Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse, all of which are actors from “Love, Rosie.” As the film is based on the Cecelia Ahern book “Where Rainbows End” she too attended along with many others.

My eyes were opened that night to see first hand how inspirational a single person could be to a nation of different people. Although “Love, Rosie” is your typical rom-com, it made me appreciate the hard work that goes into the formation of a film and for that I am grateful.

This was a life-changing encounter because I am now able to understand the pressure of not only the media, but of the expectations that society has set for “celebrities.” When stepping back into the “real world”, I wondered what I had learnt from this affair? I think it’s important to learn that status is has no relevance. The fact that I was standing next to these “celebrities” proves just that, instead we must pursue what we believe that ourselves can achieve and celebrate our successes.
