On Friday 14th November, Delight Charity situated in Caterham, raised £515 at a school in  Tower Hamlets, by selling toys and items of clothing from as little as 50p.

The primary school (where 60% of the children are eligible for Pupil Premium), was thrilled at the amount Delight raised, where children and their families were able to get their hands on a range of books, puzzles, a vast choice of winter clothing and much more. The sale was situated over two floors, where crowds of people eagerly purchased a number of items each.

Due to items being priced at extremely affordable rates, it was inevitable that the sale would be a huge success. The young volunteers created a welcoming atmosphere, selling 250 books and 90% of all the toys, along with a vast demand for coats and other winter clothing items. Kathryn Mills, Director of Delight, said 'I had great feedback from parents and staff at the school about how polite and friendly the young volunteers were, where the head teacher described them as the 'key to the success of the event'.'

Sophie Nye, a volunteer, described the experience as 'extremely satisfying', due to the number of happy faces of customers who were able to buy items of high quality at such low prices.

Having previously done a spring sale at the school in March, Delight was able to provide funding for 105 young pupils to watch two performances at the Unicorn Theatre in London Bridge. Due to an even higher profit made at this most recent sale, it is no doubt that the money raised will provide even more for the pupils.

Delight is a local charity which works to improve the lives of children living on the poverty line, along with encouraging more young people to have broader education by getting involved in creative arts like drama and music.
