For the past eight years or so I have been trying to establish contact with Croydon relatives who through two warring sisters and the stress and chaos of World War II my family lost all communication with.

My father, being the only surviving brother, kept in touch with his four sisters, one of whom lived in Croydon and one in South Wales.

However two of my aunts – Phoebe and Millie – had a falling out as young women and went their separate ways.

It was not until World War II and the blitz that things again came to a head, where, at one point, both sisters and their families needed to stay with us as their homes had been shelled.

Needless to say this did not improve the relationship and when Millie and her family moved on we lost all contact.

What I do know is Oscar Oswald Brown married Millie Challinor in 1907 at the register office in Croydon.

They had at least three children, William, Cyril and Lucy.

I believe they lived in a Leighton Road or Leighton Street in Croydon.

I was 12 years old when the last contact was made in 1944-45.

If anyone knows anything about this family or can help in any way can they please contact me at the address below
