An Addiscombe drug den will be locked up for the next three months after neighbours were put through a living hell.

The home at 42 Kemerton Road had been taken over by a number of drug users who had befriended the tenant, who is also a drug user.

Neighbours said young children were scared of going to bed in their own bedroom for fear of being woken up by screaming, shouting and fighting from the property.

One neighbour said the constant disturbances were having such a detrimental impact on her she could barely function and was beginning to resent living in her home.

But last week Croydon Council secured a three-month Premises Closure Order at a hearing at Croydon Magistrates Court, meaning the home will be locked up for the next three months.

Councillor Hamida Ali, cabinet member for safer Croydon and communities, said: “I am very grateful to the court for granting this order and relieved for all the residents who have been affected.

“No one should feel fearful and anxious in their own home.

"This order will bring immediate respite to all those residents who have been suffering at the whim of this tenant and his guests.”

The council has also applied to the court for a Warrant of Eviction to claim back the property
