The 100 most popular baby names picked for newborn boys and girls have been released – but which were the most common for Sutton?

Data published for the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has also shown the 10 most common monikers across London over the past year.

While there were a few regulars, there were also some surprises.

So what were the most popular names given to baby boys and girls in Sutton?

Well, they were Oliver and Olivia.

The former was given to 30 newborn boys and the latter to 20 baby girls.

Oliver was the second-most popular in London for boys while Olivia ranked first overall for the girls.

In neighbouring Croydon it was Joshua and Amelia, and Charlotte, Emily, Isla, and Sophia all tied for the most popular girl’s name in Kingston according to the ONS.

Meanwhile, Joshua came out trumps in both Kingston and Merton.

If you’re wondering about Epsom and Ewell then we’ve got that covered too – for boys it was Leo and for girls it was Olivia.
