Traffic was stopped and sniffer dogs were called to Erith during a police search which allegedly involved armed officers.

Pictures show officers and dogs in Northend Road, by the Tesco Express, on Tuesday afternoon at around 5pm.

Several lanes of traffic were held by police, who were walking around the area.

Reports on Facebook from people who were in the area at the time have suggested the officers were armed.

No information about the incident has been released by police, but several reports have suggested the incident involved a teenager who was carrying a shotgun.

Photos of a helicopter circling above the area were also shared while people reported the Tesco had been closed by police.

News Shopper has contacted Met Police for more information, but was told there was no record of the incident.

Kent Police also has no record of the incident.

Tesco Express has been contacted for comment.
