Three different generations of men in the same family are performing in a community fundraiser in February.

The Jones Pack which is made up of grandfather David Jones, 70, his son Greg, 44 and grandson, Daniel, 16.

"They rehearse at least half an hour every evening, each day of the week using original backing tracks," said Diane Jones, Greg's wife who manages the group.

Greg said the family group perform to entertain and are happy when people have fun listening to their music.

He said: “The 1950s and 1960s were good times and music back then made sense.”

He said his dad inspired the group with his operatic voice.

Teenager Daniel said: "It's been fantastic performing in The Jones Pack.

"The main music I listened to when I was little was Elvis Presley and I only got into the swing-era two years ago.

"I went to Stagecoach for six years and did singing, dancing and acting. I won a bronze, silver and gold medal for my performances. But I ended up not pursuing acting or dancing because music kind of stuck more with me."

Over the years, the family have created a popular local act, taking on community events, church hall socials and bookings in local restaurants in the south of the borough.

Mark Trompeteler, organising the event, said: "I have seen them perform, and they must have the best Rat Pack backing tracks around, really fabulous big band orchestrations.

"With their voices and their high production values they put on a great stage show for local community audiences."

The fundraiser organized by the Forestdale Residents Association (FRA), will take place at The Forum Community Centre.
