I would like to thank everyone who voted to re-elect me as MP for Croydon North last Thursday. I will work night and day to justify the trust people have placed in me.

It was a truly humbling experience to win over twice as many votes as when I was elected in the byelection in 2012 and secure a record majority in the constituency.

I do not believe the new Conservative Government is good news for Croydon North. Huge challenges remain that the Conservatives refused to tackle in the last Parliament. We still have the biggest shortage of school places in the country, appalling rates of unemployment particularly affecting young black people, a housing crisis, and a shortage of doctors and nurses that leads to long waiting lists.

I will work constructively with the Government for the benefit of local people on these and other issues, but I will continue to need your active help and support to make this Government listen and treat our community fairly.

STEVE REED MP
Labour, Croydon North
