I am researching the history of the Stack car manufactured between 1921 and 1926 in Mayo, East Croydon.

The cars were well-made, albeit in quite small numbers and the company built their own engines at least initially.

These were twin cylinder units that were progressively enlarged from 766cc to 858cc. In 1925 however a four cylinder engine 1526 cc was adopted but whether this was made by the company or boughtin is unclear.

Information of this kind is proving hard to come by, but it occurs to me that descendants of GF Stack may still be living in the Croydon area and may be able to shed more light on the history of the company and may possibly be able to provide photos of the factory, the cars and other information about the family.

About 60 cars were apparently completed during the period the company was in business, but sadly the only artefacts surviving (or known to be surviving) are components of one of the twin cylinder engines.

If any of your readers can add to what we already know I should be very pleased to hear from you.

The car was friction driven by a system patented by Mr Stack.
