A schoolboy who underwent a life-saving bowel transplant operation got the chance to lunch with Princes William and Harry at a rehearsal for the recent Concert for Diana.

Ten-year-old Luke Biggs, from Alexander Close, Abingdon, was invited to meet the princes for lunch in the Royal Suite at London's Wembley Stadium.

After enjoying supper in the Royal Suite, Luke saw music stars including Joss Stone and P Diddy practising for the big day.

Luke, who was born without a bowel, has spent a lot of time undergoing treatment at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital.

At one point doctors gave him just a month to live, but following a successful bowel transplant at Birmingham Children's Hospital at the end of 2005 he has not looked back.

Luke, who was invited to meet the princes by the charity Wildchild, said: "When the two princes came into the room everyone clapped and suddenly there were lots of photographers taking loads of pictures. I felt very excited and nervous all at the same time - we were going to meet the future King! Mummy said her tummy was all fluttery.

"Prince William said: 'Hello, how are you?' I replied: 'fine, thank you' and he shook my hand.

"He then asked me 'what music do you like?' I said Take That - as I knew they were playing at the concert the next day.

"William then said: 'Did you hear Joss Stone practising earlier? She was singing and dancing about on the stage in the rain with no shoes and socks on, she's a real rock chick!' "I thought that William didn't really talk posh, just quite normally."

The lucky youngster then got to step into the stadium's Royal Box to watch Nelly Furtado rehearsing several songs.

Luke said: "It was amazing. I sat in the front row, a few seats away from the Royal seats.

"We were the only ones in the stadium, apart from the people working on the ground, then when she saw us she waved and blew kisses to William."

Family friend Sue Murphy, from Kennington, recently presented Luke with a cheque for £2,000 which was raised through sponsorship for running the London Marathon.
